Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 1 November 2026

In short: the full website app costs £19.99, one payment, no subscription. You can try Chapter 1 and a full mock test first, with just your email. Access starts as soon as you pay, so by buying you agree that your 14 day right to cancel ends once access starts, and there are no refunds for a change of mind. If something we supply is faulty, your legal rights still apply (see section 5).

1. Who we are

Life in the UK Test (the website at www.lifeintheuktutor.com, "the App") is run by Capitalizt Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16890768. Registered office: 128 City Road, London, United Kingdom EC1V 2NX. Email: hello@capitalizt.com.

2. What you get

Prices include any VAT that applies. Payment is taken by Stripe. Discount codes, such as a friend's referral discount, apply to the website checkout only.

3. Your account and access

Your access is linked to the email address you pay with, so please use the same email to sign in. It is for your own personal use: please do not share your sign in or copy, resell or publish the chapters or questions. We may suspend an account that is shared or misused.

Your access does not run out while we offer the App. If we ever stop offering it, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before.

4. Cancellation

The App and the settlement checklist are digital content that we supply straight away. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you would normally have 14 days to cancel. When you buy, you ask us to give you access immediately and you agree that your right to cancel ends once access starts. That is why we do not give refunds if you change your mind after buying.

If you have not yet received access because of a problem on our side, contact us and we will either give you access or refund you in full.

5. If something is wrong

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If something we supply is faulty, tell us at hello@capitalizt.com. We will fix or replace it, and if we cannot do that within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to some or all of your money back. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.

Purchases made in the iPhone app are handled by Apple. Ask Apple about refunds for those at reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Using the App to prepare for the test

The App helps you study for the Life in the UK test. It is an independent study app and is not affiliated with the UK Government or the Home Office. The official handbook, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents, is the authority on what the test asks. We work hard to keep every chapter and question accurate, but we cannot promise that you will pass, because that depends on your own study and on the test itself.

Amber, the AI tutor, gives helpful explanations but can occasionally be wrong. Where Amber and the handbook disagree, the handbook is right.

7. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, or for business losses, since the App is for personal use. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the law or the App changes. The version that applies to your purchase is the one shown when you bought. We will tell you by email about any change that affects you significantly.

9. Complaints and the law

If you are unhappy with anything, email hello@capitalizt.com and we will reply within 5 working days. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring a claim in your local courts.
